Summary
In these two articles Rev. Jesse Jackson's, states that dark-colored people should be called African American instead of black. He argues that calling some one with a dark complexion, black, has no cultural or historical meaning in the name and therefore should not be as frequently used. Mr. Jackson claims that there is discrimination in the word when used to describe a being with it. He says that all through history people descended to America from Africa because of slave trades, therefore the descendences of slaves in America become very much American. However they should be called not only American but also African because all throughout history their ancestors happened to come form Africa.
In a nutshell Mr. Jackson opinionates that when African American people are called black he believes that there is this great gap of the peoples great history and culture.
